Jacob P. Guerra is a current associate attorney and former paralegal at Margolis Edelstein’s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office. He has handled a broad range of civil litigation matters at the firm, including premises liability, automobile, products liability, professional negligence, and family law.
Prior to joining the firm, Jacob worked as a law clerk at a plaintiff’s firm in Pittsburgh, where he assisted attorneys in worker’s compensation, social security, and personal injury cases. While he primarily does defense work at Margolis Edelstein, his prior experience working at a plaintiff’s firm has provided him with a broad perspective of both sides of civil litigation. He also spent the summer of 2019 working as a judicial intern for the Honorable Gregory L. Taddonio in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Jacob earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Duquesne University School of Law in 2021. During law school, he excelled particularly in his Legal Research and Writing (LRW) Classes, earning two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for receiving the best grade in his class for two subsequent semesters. As a result, he was asked to become a Teaching Assistant (TA) for LRW in his second year of law school. As a TA, he helped teach new law students legal research and writing in and out of the classroom and provided them feedback on their written assignments. He also participated in Duquesne Law’s Urban Development Practicum, providing attorney-supervised legal work to disadvantaged citizens and organizations.
Prior to law school, Jacob earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Writing from the Duquesne University McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts.
