Defense Verdict in Products Liability Matter Western PA

Bill Haushalter, Esq., successfully defended the largest manufacturer of industrial remote control systems in a products liability matter in western Pennsylvania.  The relevant facts:  On April 10, 2002 the plaintiff, David Fry, was working on a locomotive assembly line in the General Electric Transportation Division in Erie, Pa. He alleged the remote control box he was using malfunctioned resulting in the 6,000 pound locomotive wheel and axle assembly, which was suspended from an overhead crane, suddenly moving towards him and crushing him against an equally large locomotive motor located on the floor of the assembly line.

Economic damages approached $1 million; the demand was 1.86 million.

Bill argued operator error caused the loss and the jury deliberated for just under an hour before returning a unanimous (12/0) verdict in favor of his client.  Congratulations, Bill!
